Meditation or rumination
Dear One,
If you've ever found yourself avoiding the mat/cushion/mindfulness-related-anything, chances are you're also avoiding a noisy brain.
Why would we want to slow down just to collide with our own mental spirals?
Why would we get quiet just for our cranky inner critic to get louder?
Why would we create more inner spaciousness, just for fear to move into that extra space?
So yeah, we find ways to stay away and turn towards something else that feels like NOT THAT.
But the noisy brain, mental spirals, inner critic, and fear persist.
I know I've been preaching body-based nervous system regulation for about a decade now. But it's nuanced. We are complex beings who often need a multi-Kosha strategy, supporting body, mind, emotions, energy, and higher self all at once, to access some kind of embodied peace.
Basically we need body-based regulation strategies that also create a holding space for our mind, guidance to interrupt mental rumination and emotional roller coasters, alongside an energetic exorcism, and psycho-education to activate the higher self that has the window of tolerance to hold it all.
Phew. It's a tall order, I know.
If practicing on the mat with me is where you can access that kind of nervous system regulation cocktail, then join me this Thursday for Flow & Restore and/or this Saturday for Befriending Stillness Restorative + bodywork.
AND if you're interested in being able to offer multi-Kosha mind/body support to your clients in a professional capacity, then join me for this fall's Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy Training, starting mid-September.
Meditating and ruminating alongside you,
~Alex
